Boeing 787 services to launch on new Pacific route from July 2016.
United Airlines has just confirmed the introduction of non-stop flights between Auckland and San Francisco International Airport, effective from 03 July 2016.
Initially operating three times weekly using 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, the service will expand to a daily 787-9 operation from 30 October 2016.
The move sees United resume direct service to New Zealand, with UA vice chairman and chief revenue officer, Jim Compton, saying customers will also benefit from “seamless onward connections via our San Francisco hub to cities throughout the US, Canada, Mexico and Central/South America”.
The flights will be operated in coordination with UA’s Star Alliance partner, Air New Zealand, with NZ ceo Christopher Luxon saying “United Airlines’ return to the New Zealand market will be great for travellers in both directions, and will provide a welcome boost to tourism in New Zealand”.
The new route will be available for booking now.
