Mount Aconcagua, Argentina

With Cherie Horne

Stand on the highest peak of the Southern Hemisphere and observe the magnificence of The Andes with Cherie Horne Adventure Trekking.

This impressive expedition offers a personalised client focused service that’s ensures first and foremost safety of the mountain followed by a memorable high altitude mountaineering journey that is tailored exclusively towards giving you the greatest opportunity at succeeding on this high Andean peak called Mount Aconcagua.

Mount Aconcagua rises 6,962m above sea level and is the second highest mountain of the Seven Summits Circuit (highest mountains in each continent of the world) outside of Mount Everest in the Himalayas. This eminent wedge-shaped, “Stone Sentinel” is located in Western Argentina and lies in the heart of the Central Andes. The extreme cold, stormy white winds and high altitude makes this mountain a serious undertaking and is ideal for those wishing to experience a true high altitude mountaineering adventure. Despite being non-technical in nature Aconcagua is frequently used as a preparation climb for the big mountains of the Himalayas.

The “Normal Route” we trek along follows the Northwest Wall that we have assigned up to seventeen days on the mountain to reach our summit goal and conclude the journey. During this climb you will encounter a combination of extreme high altitude, volatile weather and the need to complete up to twelve hours of sustained climbing on summit day that ensures both a challenging and rewarding expedition.

Cherie’s customised journey includes extended acclimatisation days along with two summit reserve days. She is so careful with acclimatisation logistics during the entire expedition and believe the ascent of the mountain should be made in the most favourable, gratifying and safe way.

Her approach to Base Camp – Plaza de Mulas covers a distance of approximately 40 km that takes three days to reach. Prior to this you will make an acclimatisation trek to Plaza Francia, the Base Camp of the monumental Southern Wall. To ensure better physiological adaptations to the altitude and to enjoy a unique view of Aconcagua we will embark on a scenic acclimatisation trek to the neighbouring Mount Bonete that rises 5,100m above sea level. Following that scenic day hike, you will then commence the gradual climb to the summit of Mount Aconcagua by strategically establishing three higher altitude camps via the “Normal non-technical Route”.

This carefully structured itinerary is programmed for two days of carrying and caching equipment and food. This important logistical technique leads into the final pre-summit stage. The supreme climatic phase will see us climb higher and higher until we reach the almighty summit of Mount Aconcagua, the “Roof of South America”.

If you desire the ultimate mountaineering challenge and want to conquer one of the much sought after “Seven Summits” of the world set yourself the goal to climb Mountain Aconcagua with Cherie Horne Adventure Trekking.

Her highly qualified guides combine with me to offer you an experience that is meticulously structured, purely captivating and totally unforgettable. We believe our itinerary offers the most advantageous acclimatisation strategy and tactical climbing route for maximum enjoyment and overall team success.

Mount Aconcagua is waiting for you!
