This learning program follows the popular China main cities and highlights with the addition of 3 days of language lessons at Beijing’s most reputable language school. 

 

Lessons are conducted in the morning, with cultural excursions in the afternoons.

Tour Itinerary

China Triangle with Language School

Day 1: Australia – Shanghai

Arrive in Shanghai, located at the mouth of the Yangtze River. Shanghai is the No.1 metropolis in China and reputed as the “Paris of the Orient”. Shanghai attracts you with the smart way she interweaves the West and East, ancient and modern.

Meet our representative on arrival and transfer by private coach to your hotel. A snack pack is prepared upon arrival. Dinner is arranged for this evening.

Day 2: Shanghai

After breakfast at your hotel, make your way to The Bund and start your tour*. Admire the views of Pudong across the river and embrace the city skyline, appreciating the diverse architectural buildings (Gothic, Baroque, Rome, Renaissance, Classic and Mixed Eastern and Western style). If you wish, you can visit the Shanghai World Financial Centre for the most amazing views of Shanghai  from their 474 meter high platform.

Next stop is the over 400-year-old Yuyuan Garden, the representative ancient garden in Shanghai. Here you have about 1.5 hours to appreciate the elegant pavilions, villa, lotus pond and bridges. Don’t miss the two highlights Mid-Lake Pavilion and Zigzag Bridge that provide access to the Pavilion. Enjoy wandering through the market stalls and souvenir shops that surround the gardens. Lunch is not included today but can be arranged at the local dumpling house located at the Yuyuan Gardens.

In the afternoon, visit Shanghai Museum. Reputed as one the top museums in China, the Shanghai Museum is a museum of Chinese ancient art with a collection of 120,000 precious Chinese works of art and archaeological findings. It has 11 state-of-the-art galleries and 3 special exhibition halls, all encircling a spacious cylindrical atrium. Head back to your hotel for some leisure time before this evenings activities.

This evening have dinner at your hotel before enjoying your Huangpu River cruise, which will provide you with the magnificent skylines on both the historic west side (the Bund), and the modern east side (Pudong New Area). The iconic Oriental Pearl TV Tower, bathed in night light, seems to be more charming.

This can either be a guided tour of a self-guided tour depending on the experience of your accompanying teachers.

Day 3: Shanghai

After breakfast at your hotel travel by private coach to Zhouzhuang Water Town, the most famous water town (900 years old) where you will spend the day. Cruise along the canals to see the old residences, shops and bridges that are full of classic architectural design. Apart from the cruise, you also have free time to explore this old town. Recommended attractions are: Twin Bridges, Shen Family Residence and Zhang Family Residence.

This afternoon return to Shanghai in time for dinner this evening at a local restaurant.

Day 4: Shanghai – Xian

After breakfast at your hotel transfer to the airport for the flight to Xian, the cradle of Chinese civilization and the centre of prehistory culture. Xian is the capital of 13 ancient dynasties in China, which dates back to 1200 years ago, and the starting point of the Silk Road.  Xian is blessed with numerous marvellous historical and cultural relics. It has been honoured as a World Historic City by the UNESCO in 1981. Upon arrival, meet our representative and transfer by private coach to your hotel and check in.

In the afternoon visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a Buddhist temple built in 652A.D. You can enjoy the architectural elegance of the Buddhist buildings, as well as discover the legend of Hierarch Xuanzang and his 16-year pilgrimage to India for the Buddhist culture. Afterwards, take a short walk to the Muslim Quarter, the main gathering place for the local Muslim community, seeing the exotic shops, snacks and souvenirs.

Tonight, you will enjoy a tasty Chinese dumpling dinner! Dumplings come in different shapes and different fillings, some even with special propitious meanings.

Day 5: Xian – Beijing

After breakfast at your hotel, meet your guide and take your private coach transfer to one of the great wonders of the world – the life-like Terracotta Warriors, who have gone through the trial of time of over 2,200 years but still stand in their position for guarding the Emperor Qin Shihuang. There are three exhibition halls to visit plus additional displays and information which will be explained in detail by your experienced guide. As you wander back to your coach there is an opportunity to buy some lunch or some souvenirs.

Make your way back to Xian and a leisurely stroll on the Ancient City Wall (or if you prefer, a bike ride* which is popular with many schools).  It is the best preserved City Wall of this kind in China, with a height of 12 meters and width (upper part) of 15 meters. With excellent views of Xian, you can ponder the history of China or of this ancient city Xi’an. You may also have a chance to ride a bike on the wall. *(no helmet is provided)

After dinner at your hotel transfer to the station for overnight train Z20(1921/0658+1) to Beijing

Day 6: Beijing

Welcome to Beijing, the capital city of People’s Republic of China! Arriving at 0700, you will be met by your guide who will then transfer with you to your language school, to arrive around 0900 to start your study program*.

Accommodation is on campus, twin share 3 star standard. All meals are provided. Language lessons take place in the morning, and cultural excursions in the afternoon. Details of the 3 day language program are provide on request

Day 9: Beijing

After breakfast, enjoy your final language lesson before attending the closing ceremony provided for you by the college. Your guide will meet you at reception and take you to the Great Wall of China for a tour of the Mutianyu section. Take the round-trip cable car to see this vital section of the world famous China Great Wall, Mutianyu has a storied history of over 1400 years and can be traced back to Northern Qi Dynasty (550-570).

Return later this afternoon to your hotel in Beijing and check in, enjoy some leisure time before dinner. Tonight’s dinner is Chinese famous Peking Roast Duck.

Day 10: Beijing

After breakfast at your hotel you will visit Tiananmen Square to start your Beijing tour. Strolling round the large square, you will see Beijing with ancient and modern elements. It is also where Mao Tse-tung raised the flag of the People’s Republic of China. The Square is surrounded by imposing buildings such as the National Museum of China, and the Great Hall of the People where visiting head of states are entertained.

As you leave the square, walk north to the Forbidden City. As the largest and best-preserved imperial palace in China, it vividly indulges you with a whole impression of the royal life and your guide will be a source of great information of the history across many Dynasties.

In the afternoon visit Summer Palace. You will appreciate this Chinese featured royal park, which boasts of typical Chinese architecture and splendid landscapes. Enjoy a cruise on Kunming Lake. Return to your hotel later this afternoon. The evening activity is also wonderful – Chinese Kung Fu Show! You can even take photos with the performers after the show.

After breakfast at your hotel enjoy some free time before your private transfer to the airport for your flight home.
