While a romantic break is one of the best ways to enjoy some uninterrupted quality time with your other half, sometimes you just want something a little special to make your holiday truly memorable.
Like something out of a fairytale, treehouse hotels represent wide-eyed escapism at its best, which is why we’ve picked a few of our favourite spots around the world to spark your imagination.
Keemala Hotel, Phuket
Located in Phuket, the Keemala Hotel is quite possibly the greenest resort you’ll find. The natural rainforest ambience and an organic herb and vegetable garden, it’s all part of an enchanting tropical backdrop to your luxury holiday.
There are a few villas to stay in, such as a quaint Clay Pool Cottage or a Bird’s Nest Pool Villa, both of which are stunning, spacious accommodation options to choose.
However, possibly the most exotic style of living are the Tree Pool Houses. As you can imagine, these are deluxe treehouses, suspended above the ground to offer magnificent views of verdurous greenery. Each villa offers a private pool, bathtub, master bedroom and an outdoor terrace where you and your significant other can breathe in the earthy smells of the rainforest.
Tarangire Treetops – Tarangire National Park, Tanzania
Tarangire Treetops combines the whimsy of treehouse accommodation with the exhilaration of a safari adventure. Wrapped around a 700-year-old baobab tree, the lodge blends seamlessly with its stunning location on the fringe of Tanzania’s Tarangire National Park, making it a secluded spot for you to enjoy a romantic break.
Spend your days relaxing at the lodge, taking a dip in the infinity pool or lounging on the deck which opens out onto the savannah, ideal for leisurely afternoons or a nightcap under the stars.
You also have the opportunity to embark on game drives which bring you closer to the array of animals who roam the surrounding Masaai lands, rounding out the perfect romantic safari experience.

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge – Tanzania
Another romantic getaway in Tanzania, this treetop hotel is “the only luxury lodge in Lake Manyara”, as proclaimed by owner and operator company &Beyond. It’s set into the branches of an ancient mahogany forest, creating an exquisite lush environment as you rewind in the canopy of verdant green trees, and is highly recommended by Debbie Grace herself.
This woodland hotel is situated in a secluded area of the park, a quiet, peaceful and intimate setting. There are 10 treehouses, so you won’t be sharing the space with many tourist groups, each with a private veranda and large rooms in these treehouses. You can also have a soak in a free-standing bathtub or an open air shower with a nothing more than a canopy of green to shelter you – it’s that private!
Treehotel – Harads, Sweden
When you step into this peaceful, otherworldly hotel, you truly leave mundane life behind. You’ll feel surrounded by nature both inside and out of the treehouse, dependent on which room you choose to stay in. There are seven different designs, all suspended 4-6 metres above ground in a serene pine forest.
The Mirrorcube is a box room with mirrored walls that reflect the commanding landscape around you. There’s also a space-inspired room, shaped like a UFO. All of these extravagant rooms even have Wi-Fi – perfect for you to document the gorgeous view of the Northern Lights when it gets dark.
It’s another treehouse hotel that receives good feedback from Debbie Grace, so be sure to contact her for bespoke travel advice.
